Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical effect of Five Elements Music on anxiety levels in patients with cirrhosis. Methods Seventy-four patients with cirrhosis admitted from July to December 2024 were randomly divided into a control group (n=37) and an experimental group (n=37). The control group received routine gastroenterology care, while the experimental group received Five Elements Music intervention (twice daily, 75 minutes) for 3 weeks in addition to the routine care. The Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Kolcaba Comfort Scale, and Child-Pugh classification of liver function were used to assess patients before and after the intervention. Anxiety levels, comfort levels, and liver function classifications were compared between the two groups. Results The SAS and Kolcaba scores in the experimental group were significantly better than those in the control group (P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in liver function classification between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Five Elements Music Therapy can improve anxiety and increase comfort levels in patients with cirrhosis. This method is safe and reliable and worthy of clinical promotion.
